The Care and Counseling Ministry is a care-giving approach to sharing the love of Christ where the Bible is used as our compass and authority for dealing with many of the challenges we face in life.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

A Word from Lay Counselor, Janice Davenport

I was born in Bakersfield, CA and married my high school sweetheart. We have two children and three grandchildren. We were married 48 years prior to my husband's passing, and I've now been a widow for the past two years.

I graduated from Summit Bible College with a Masters in Theology in Christian Counseling and my goal is to comfort others with the comfort that God has given to me.

I believe that everyone has the need to be heard, to discern truth from lies, and to feel accepted regardless of the circumstance. We are loved and valued "like the pearl of great price."

Through this ministry, I will be walking alongside the counselees with prayer and speaking the truth of the Word of God in love. Branches of this ministry may include one-on-one meetings as well as group counseling and the development of support groups. Initially our focus will be related to grief and childhood abuse, then other counsel as needs arise.

Lay Counseling Philosophy

This ministry exists as an extension of RCC. In the absence of Biblical guidance and practice, people will fail to experience life as God intended. Yet through the efforts of seeking and applying Scriptural wisdom there is hope, peace, and purpose.

Jesus said, "I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full" and its is our hope for each person to experience fullness of life.
